Saw this little image. It was one of those links that people send around Facebook. But think about it, cause it should make you wonder just a bit… if you’re a thinking person.
Yes, It’s a great point isn’t it. We all seem to justify security (and the need for security). But it makes me wonder where that “need” for security ends. Would we be willing to justify say, the Freedom of Speech, A Constitutional Right, over security? It’s interesting to see this in Cartoon form, but lets see what it looks like in real life.
TSA, High schools, and Jails. Now obviously, we must have security in certain circumstances, however, how much of your freedoms are you willing to give up to government? Airports? Federal Buildings? Bus Stations? Movie Theaters now? Reminds me of that quote often attributed to Benjamin Franklin, but paraphrased by many others in various forms:
“He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither”
