I don’t know why but I’ve watched 3 old-school westerns this past month. The best of them all was a movie I’ve never even heard of but for the fact it kept popping up on my Netflix queue. That movie is called, Once Upon A Time In The West. It is from the same director who directed many of the other Spaghetti Westerns of the era, Sergio Leone. If you don’t know who he is, he is the king of all western directors… and he’s Italian, hence the term Spaghetti Western. Many of the actors were Italians (not Mexicans). This explains the unnecessarily long periods of no talking, dubbed English and Italian accents. Sergio Leone gave the world, The Man With No Name, A Fistful Of Dollars, and The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly for goodness sake.
This is a damn good movie with some Cinematography that is just mindblowing. From the initial scenes you can tell that Leone was perfecting the art of filmmaking for his later works. The storyline weaves its way from a boy who is getting revenge for what was done to his brother. Of course it ends with a gunfight. This is Definitely a Western movie and well worth the watching. Check it out or Buy It From Amazon.
